Urgent: Concert/rehearsal information

Thank you to everyone that came to the band rehearsal this lunchtime and I apologise for the difficulties that we are experiencing at the moment. It is more important than ever now that everyone who is a member and has been rehearsing should continue and anyone that knows they should be going must make sure that they can make the last rehearsal next week (2nd December).

Although you will not have a pianist for the rehearsal, (and most likely the concert too – due to a music college audition), it is important that we are organised enough that we can cope if this is the situation on the day. “Cute” is well on the way – despite some of the rehearsals being a little bit sparse on numbers due to mock exams etc. We are hoping that due to the reluctance to improvise with the people we had today (25th Nov.) that hopefully other Y13′s will be able to do this, to fill the gap where there are rests. The Christmas music has been temporarily been misplaced and if everyone can keep an eye out over the next week, that would be great. So long as we have the rest of the Y13 on the day then we will be fine and should perform a good programme. Please do not feel disheartened, despite the current situation! Everything will be worked out OK.

If anyone knows of a good time to fit in an extra rehearsal, then please could you post a comment here, or talk to the one of the group leaders or a music teacher. Thank you for your support.

From here you will be able to click on the links to the different pieces, which will open up your default media player and play the files. You can access this by clicking on Listen to Music under PAGES on the right-hand side bar or click on the Music page and at the bottom of the page will be a link to open the sub-site in a new window. We hope this is going to be a really useful resource for you. Thanks.

Just a quick update to let everyone know what we plan to do, Wednesday lunchtime 14th October 09. We are planning to have a brief talk about what we are thinking of doing over the next term or so – to give you an idea of where everything is going. As we have not really had a proper welcome start to the ensemble – we are going to introduce this now due to limiting numbers at present, (better late than never). We will make sure that we have peoples names, tutor group and instrument(s) via a letter we’ll be handing out - so that you can be contacted in the future easier and we can keep track of who we have for rehearsals. Welcome to the new Ridings Federation Winterbourne International Academy Jazz Band!

This site has been set up to allow members of the band to gain information and news about the band, as well as play an interactive role in all the stages leading up to each concert. We plan to have lots of photos up as well as repertoire and an opportunity for you to suggest new music. It can also be away of letting us know if you can’t make a rehearsal etc.

We hope that this website will be a useful resource as it grows. Please comment!
